The resolution was actually passed!
by stillin inwho would have thought that enough people would raise their hands when the resolution was put before the congregation tonight?
based on the pledges that the publishers put on those little pieces of paper, the congregation is promising the wts that they will send $1,000/month to support the society's building funds.. there is a traditional monthly shortfall of about $100 with the basic monthly bills usually around $1,000.
i didn't raise my hand.

During the 30 years I was in there was only one person who voted against a resolution. It didn't change a thing and I doubt that most people would vote against something the elders made.

...The WBT$ Theft of Kingdom Hall Bank Accounts and JW Elders...
by OUTLAW in.. the new wbt$ donation arrangement/ jw kingdom hall bank account theft... is a very hot topic right now... the wbt$ is literally going to clean out kingdom hall bank accounts, filled with donations from jws... that theft is going to happen world wide..the wbt$ is going to steal from 7 million plus jw`s... .. we have jw elders here on jwn, that know whats going on... they "serve" in kingdom halls, they are "supposed" to be looking after the welfare of the average jw... they know there is a 4 page letter, only one page will be read to the congregation..the rest will be kept secret... they know the wbt$ is about to steal jw donations..on a world wide scale!!!...
.. i would like to know what you active jw elders are going to do about this??!!...
are you going to let "your" congregation know about the other 3 secret pages?...

When voting on this new arrangement 99.99% of the JW's will vote for whatever they are asked. During the 30 years I was in I saw only one person vote against a resolution. They are trained to do whatever the elders and GB tell them to.
Years ago my husband stopped donating money and giving free materials and labor to the building projects. I didn't understand what he knew but he would only throw in a little money for books and magazines and then I would write a check for the DC, CA and SD. It makes me sick the amount of money we gave over that period.
The whole WT$ is just one big criminal organization. With the child abuse, the DFing and shunning of perople, the taking of so much money and then they live high on the hog and all of the false teachings. They are a cult and they just get worse by the day.

Scared I'll Never be Happy Again
by Stumbeline inso it's' been 8 months since i was disfellowshiped.
i moved out of my mothers house accross the country to room with a friend.
things have been going ok, it's just strange to be so far away from everything that felt familiar, even the meetings.

Stumbleline, you are feeling what many of us have felt. You are still newly out so give yourself some time to heal. Try to research and read books written about ex-JW's, Steven Hassen - cult recovery, self help books and research the history of religion because it will help you heal. I agree with the others who suggested you find a good therapist that understands being in a cult because it help will help change your life.
I don't know how you can go back and live a lie because I think it will be so harmful to your mental health. Get involved with things you enjoy and find some hobbies that involves meeting others or volunteer. Once you start to make new friends your life will change.
You are still young and you have a great future ahead of you, just take advantage of the opportunities out there. Many ex-JW's go wild when they leave but don't feel you have to try everything just to fit in.
Hang in there, it is a roller coaster ride and you will have your down moments but pick yourself up and keep moving forward. We are here whenever you need to talk.

Convicted paedophile allowed to grill his victims at Jehovah's Witness meeting
by Sapphy inhttp://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/convicted-paedophile-jonathan-rose-grilled-7151197.
oh my goodness, i'm so angry i can't even speak!
"women who complained that former jehovahs witness elder jonathan rose, 40, had molested them as children relived their nightmares in front of him after he was released from jail".

This is beyond disgusting! Eight ignorant elders sat there and questioned them instead of taking the court records and keeping this creep out of the KH And protecting the children. How do these men sleep at night knowing what they did to these girls. When you think you have heard it all something like this comes up and there is no doubt that it is a wicked cult. Jehovah's Witnesses wake up!!

It is so obviously a lie......now
by snare&racket inonce the spell is broken, one you take a deep fresh breath outisde of the watchtower camp, the amazingly obvious realisation becomes clear.... of course this is a lie, of course this is ridiculous!
you find you have memories of really believing the claims and promises, but it seems like another life, another experience.
it seems so incredibly false once you leave and it is very difficult to belive you even once accepted it!

This is a great post with so many excellent points brought out. We were in our late 50's when we faded 22 months ago and it has been so freeing. The further you get away from it you really see how crazy the whole thing really is. one of the things that has helped us also is reading and researching to debunk it all so you aren't confused in your mind. Once you realize it is a lie the scales fall off your eyes for good.

OMG I'm so happy!!!!
by Julia Orwell inyup, the apostate is happy.
i shouldn't be, right, because my life is empty without "jehovah" and the organisation.. but i just got a job at one of the best theme parks in the world, which is so what i want to do, and it's the first permanent job i've had since i lost my government job in 2012!.
the job pays minimum wage but i don't care because working in tourism and entertainment is what i want to do!

How Many Had Chronic fatigue syndrome?
by OnTheWayOut inchronic fatigue syndrome refers to severe, continued tiredness that is not relieved by rest and is not directly caused by other medical conditions.. did you have many congregation members, particularly pioneers, that said they had " chronic fatigue syndrome" ?.
that's their "get-out-of-jail-free card.
" they were free to cancel anything at anytime and it was their legitimate reason for not doing anything that didn't involve field recruiting.

I can tell you from my experiences it nearly destroyed my life. I was a very healthy active young 28 year old when I got baptized. A year later I was on anti depression meds and then diagnosed with CFS. It got worse as the years went on and then add other health issues to this. I then was diagnosed with Fibromylgia and it took me down a deeper path. A year before I woke up my husband was scared to death and we sought help with a natural doctor and a therapist along with a great chiropractor that cared about my health. I turned some things around with their help. There are problems that will never go away but I am no longer takeing any of the anti depression drugs I was on for 30 years. My whole like has changed for the better. My heart goes out to others that have suffered in the way.

JW Literature... Lots of it... what to burn and what to keep?
by ILoveTTATT ini have lots and lots of watchtower literature... and i don't know what could be useful in the future to have as a reference or as a keeper.
i am definitely keeping the 1993 and 1994 bound volumes of the awake!
(no, we are not false prophets... down in the same page, the generation of 1914 will not pass... also the youths who put god the watchtower first).

We threw most of ours away with the exception of the old books. I sold our set of Studies in the Scriptures for almost $800.00.

What is the biggest regret or source of resentment because of being a Jehovahs Witness?
by stuckinarut2 ini'm sure we could all write long paragraphs about this question, but in a few words, what is your biggest regret, or frustration in life due to being a witness?.
what missed opportunities did it cost you?

My biggest regret was giving up my freedom and getting involved with this cult and losing 30 years of my life. I put my son through years of the meeting and than goodness he never got baptized.
I gave up so many wonderful celebrations with my family and I gave up my childhood friends for years.
It caused me to lose my physical & mental health which I am now gaining it back but it took its toll.
